Meds Needed

Soooo. Posted this before but it is a good reminder now.

You need 190% need anti-diarrhea meds and 190% need electrolights.

Luckily this time when it hit I was in a house with flushable toilet and outside garbage bin. Both needed as watery streams from both ends. Disentry can and will kill you. Even inside with meds…. bad… out in the bush especially by yourself I cive you a 40% chance if you are hiking or camping by yourself.

Due to allergy issues normally only use; antihistamine tablet (prescribed), Strawberry Extract and Kaopectate both for diarrhea meds.

There are dry pill versions as well.

I make my own version of electrolyte;

Ginger. Honey or organic cane sugar. See salt. Greentea or Whitetea. Also add in lemon or juice from fruit. Can substitute crystal drink mixes for the fruit and sugar cause they have too much already.

Lots of water. Disinfectant of some kind and shelter cause you will also be shivering and sweating.

Ps. Extra underwear and plastic bags are highly recommended as well!

Be well and remember following others who lie, cheat and steal with no accredited or experienced teacher except for FB and Google are dangerous, or listening to other old fools as well.

Spotted on a hike a couple of days ago.

Imagery that sparng to mind;

A diarama

A play area for kids

A scene from the desert

A shot from the mars rover

Take a hike you, yes you! Let your brain turn creative with imagery and thoughts. Or focusing on the environment fully to allow a medative state while excersizing. The time passes O so much swifter and pleasantly.

Burn or bugs

For a bit of relief for bug bites and a huge relief for sunburn and heat burns, try;

Plantain, broad and narrow leaf

Go out to your yard and pick some plantain. Heat up some water with crushed plantain, use soft cloth to moisturize with it.

( Plantain, broad leaf and narrow leaf which is also called golden stitch leaf)

Next – Mildly crumple warmed and wet plantain leaves on the worst part of mild burn for a while. Repeat a few times rest of day and tomorrow.

Good luck, for when you have no aloe

Also… for bugs n burns

Crumble plantain, warm water add in baking soda, add in some teatree oil. Mix then place on burns an bites. Cover with warm wet plantain for 10-15 min. Repeat if needed

Part 2 for clarification and variation

You can shred or pulp the broad leaf and narrow leaf plantain to make a base or crumble add hot water like making tea.
Add to baking soda and teatree oil as paste. Cover with wet warm broad leaf plantain.

Improvised field bandage

Improvised and improved field dressed palm bandage.

It would not stay, so a little electrical tape fixed it in place.

An unexpected very old and wet rusty nail that was hidden by leaves in a wood pile.

Release my Damaged Mind

Get out of Damaged Mind
“Yesterday”, as the clich√© goes, “was the beginning of the rest of my life….”

(while your reading, why not click on this link for some lovely and relaxing music by Taylor Davis, this is a sweet song)
< I found an awakening in my in the last year or so, music really inspires me to remembers sometimes though always it elicits emotions and thoughts. >((now if you don’t want to read my wandering thoughts here are two sites that have some info on the brain as well, from a helpful music sort of way ! ))

Taylor Davis – two of my fav pieces she has made;
Awakening – Taylor Davis (Original Song)
and¬†He’s a Pirate (Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean Theme) Violin – Taylor Davis
here is a link to a collaboration with Taylor Davis and Peter Hollens… Both exceptional talents

7 Insane Ways Music Affects The Body (According to Science)

Doctors always ask what is worse your memories of the present or of the past !
Answer any are bad aren’t they? Long term memory is shot full of holes, recent past memories worse, yesterday is sometimes only a shadow yet some days cling on like ‘Will nots’

a poe boy

Sometimes I dream, sometimes it is a nightmare, some days are in fog some are crystal clear. Which is the true reality, the dream state or the waking state? The Matrix for real!

This week was an experiment, no meds for 5 days. Background info for me; brain injury, fibromyalgia, arthritis just to name a few. Taking Cymbalta to help with the pain and depression, which of course I have depression after dealing with the Health Care Profession in Canada, anyone would be Depressed.

The experiment was better and worse than expected. When on the meds, I have hardly any emotions, foggy like brain and no and I mean no creativity.
Day 1-3 not too much difference
Day 4-5 lots of desire to do things, lots of creativity, but lots and lots of pain as well.
Day 5 evening… depression, anxiety, anger, conflict
Day 5 evening, took meds again … or ….

I found the desire to create to make and to write, the positive. The negative was so much pain I would hardly be able to write this out. Migraines as well, then sleep issues of only being able to sleep 3 hrs a day (no… no naps either) So tired and exhausted state of being.

Two days in a row found me waking with entire stories running around in my empty head. The dreams were so life-like in colour and very visceral. The dreams were almost like a God like perspective one day, then a first person singular, through the lens out of the eyes perspective the other time. Neither stories in the writing Genre that I favour either.

Scramble to find paper and pen, or run out to get laptop fired up to create this writing, this visceral experience to paper or pixels. Distracted, thoughts fading away to a but a foggy memory.

The stories are gone now, lost in the fog lost in my mind, so, get out of my damaged mind. Allow me to put thought to paper again and allow me to feel free. Yesterday I did a small project I had been wanting to do for a long time now. Meds and forgetfulness do not go together. If your reading this and have a normal mind then you will never understand unless you think back to a day that you had a severe head cold or was crying at a funeral. How dark and foggy the mind was, well TADA, similar, o so similar.

My last post was related to music, the music and emotions that come with listening and in this case seeing the visuals associated with the artist. Lindsay Stirling a pixie of a person though the presence of a giant, remember it is not what you look like it is what you project. Taylor Davis today’s music treat similar though very different sort of person and style. Both would enable you to fulfil any projects or emotions you might have. ¬†(According to Larousse Chambers dictionary, fulfil is BE – British English and fulfill is AE- American English… who knew before this??)

Still reading?? This is the longest piece I have written in a long time. This is sort of creative, sort of wandering though not a story and not a poem, so this is just a reflection and spasm of thoughts.

GIANT HOGWEED PLANT – DO NOT TOUCH EVER

If you get this plant on you, if you brush up against it, was as quickly as possible with soap and water, then keep covered out of sunlight. So put on a long sleeve shirt for example.

Autistic girl, speaks computer

(written to a friend ps.. I am turning my email into a blog post so don’t be upset with me about it, please!!!)
 4a1bb
what a great video and now I understand more about this.
… i know i see what others do not, i can zoom in on objects seeing and seeking where others see just the scene before them or see only wild things or weeks. i see the droplets of dew on the green leaves, i hear the sound of individual insects buzzing near me or can zoom in to hear those close to a particular flower even if it is ten feet away.¬†

people, seem overwhelming to me in groups unless they are in military groups for there is some semblance of order there. malls or large gatherings bother me and i feel emotionally drained, tiring easily.

me, i am different from most, this girl is similar but different from me in that she has sensory input hundreds of times more acute than i do.
me, i see the world differently but how differently does she see the world from me, buzzing, humming, covering her ears, taking hundreds of pictures of people’s faces.¬†
me, i see multiple images of people at the same time, not hundreds or thousands
me, i see autistic and autism much better now
me, i thank you Carly for letting me and others learn from you!

p.s. written this way on purpose fo that others see the small i, a person in a crowd instead of the bigger I that they are used to seeing in sentences or in other writings.
if you see i, perhaps you might see me.

Fire-snow-cooking

Fire, Snow and cooking
Re-Blogging and Linking to two separate articles here. Rogers Blog where he explains how to setup a campfire and a new to Youtuber, a prepper and self reliant buddy of mine who has a done a series of videos to show people how to make a winter shelter and how to build a winter fire.

This is a skill that anyone who lives in any climate where there is cold and winter should know of. This post will have some of my own info included, some re-blogged info from Roger’s blog along with a re-blogged video series from a ex Canadian¬†Military buddy of mine who lives way out in the flatlands of Canada!
Pict0007b

This winter campfire photo was taken in January a couple of years ago. The next photo shows the same fire pit in the summer time.

A great way to build a fire in winter if you have a camping spot for year round use or look for established camping spots along any trail or campground. Remember you do not have to always re-invent the wheel, just keep it simpler and it works.

Same firepit in summer time as the winter shot above.

A blog post by RMACTSC where he explains how to setup a campfire
…. excerpt..¬†
KINDLING is the foundation of any fire. It is made of lightweight materials that are capable of burning quickly and igniting heavier materials. Kindling can be made from a mixture of twigs, tiny sticks, slivers of shaved wood, dried leaves, paper, cardboard, cotton balls, dryer lint, birch bark, dried grass, dried pine needles, etc. You‚Äôll be using small sticks to then form a tepee and get your fire started. …. read more….

The next is a series of photos created while I was at Buroak Wilderness Adventures this summer. The owner of the camp a buddy of mine created a stunning all season fireplace/pit. Just look at all the features this cooking camp fire pit has;

  • flat rock for use as a warming centre and for putting objects on like the kettle
  • lots and I mean lots of hanging hooks all created from hardwood branches
  • excellent over the camp stand
  • excellent front and back projection areas
  • not seen in the photo is a canvas cook’s tent which is close enough to the fire to catch heat from this in the fall/winter/spring making your old bones just a bit more comfortable!

Buroak Wilderness 012bb

Excellent campfire setup.

This shot shows the ease at which cooking at various heights is accomplished.
Buroak Wilderness 039bb

Dinner is almost ready, can you not just smell the yummy goodness! Fresh field potatoes, fresh picked corn (non gmo), fresh farm raised free range chicken.

Kinda making me hungry all over again! Plus the smell of freshly brewed coffee all cooked on hard and softwoods.

Remember the old ways, remember this is how Humans have lived for thousands upon thousands of years.

This is one of the reasons your computer screen saver is of the outdoors and not your bosses cubical or office! just saying !

Hopefully these skills will be appeal to you, so get out and learn or get out and practice but above all just get out and have some fun folks!
Until next time Cheers ~wild_E

Come on out to the forums at CanAmPreppers.net where we talk about this stuff and so much more for prepping, self-reliance, homesteading and survival skills.
